Young Farmers & Ranchers – YOUR Next Step in Ag Leadership
Transitioning from college to a career and involvement in an industry is a difficult step to make. The agriculture industry is no different and whether you’ve grown up on a family farm, joined the agriculture ranks through FFA or stumbled upon the industry through a career move, finding your niche may prove to be a challenge.
For farmers, ranchers, and everyone involved in affiliated industries, Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer and Ranchers (YF&R) program may be exactly what you’re looking for. YF&R offers members ages 18-35 a venue to network with industry leaders, socialize with peers, and take advantage of professional development opportunities while affiliating yourself with the largest and most influential agriculture organization on the local, state and national level.
The YF&R program is as diverse as California agriculture. Whether you’re interested in fundraising to support your local food bank or Jr. Livestock Auction, lobbying elected officials and weighing in on key issues affecting the industry, or networking to increase your professional exposure and make some new friends, YF&R has the opportunities you’re looking for.
To experience YF&R first hand, plan to attend the annual Leadership Conference March 23 – 25, 2012 in Modesto. This event will feature a full day touring the agriculture industry at various stops throughout San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Merced Counties, in addition to a full slate of workshops and speakers addressing some of the hottest topics facing the industry.
A bit closer to home, Merced County YF&R is doing well and wants to welcome you as a new member. Join over 2000 YF&Rs statewide and take this opportunity to get involved with your local Farm Bureau, your community and your industry. It’s your next step in ag leadership – don’t hesitate to take it!
For more information on Merced County YF&R call the Farm Bureau office at (209)723-3001.
